The service
Rook is an AI assistant you text at +1 (628) 998-8199. It answers, looks things up, remembers, reminds, works in apps you connect, and can buy and book things for you once you say yes. “Rook”, “we” and “us” mean the people who run Rook.
Rook is offered as it is and as available. We’re improving it all the time, so features may change, and ones marked “soon” aren’t promised.
Who can use Rook
You must be at least 13 to use Rook, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live (or have a parent or guardian agree). To make purchases through Rook, you must be old enough to make them where you live, or have permission from the card holder. One phone number is one account, and you’re responsible for what happens from your number and your sign-ins.
AI can make mistakes
Rook’s answers come from AI models and the web. They can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Check anything that matters, especially prices, dates, health, legal, tax or money questions. Rook isn’t a doctor, lawyer, accountant or financial adviser.
Purchases and actions on your yes
- Rook only buys, pays, books, sends an email, changes a calendar, runs an ad or does anything else that spends money or can’t easily be undone after you text an explicit yes to that exact thing. For purchases, it shows you the item, store and all-in total first.
- When you approve a purchase, you’re buying from the store, and you’re responsible for it: the item, the price you approved, taxes, shipping and the store’s own terms. Your card may also ask you to confirm the payment.
- Rook has spending limits on purchases and ad budgets. They protect you; they don’t move responsibility for what you approve.
- Returns, refunds, warranties and delivery problems go through the store. Rook can help you start them, but the store decides.
- Read what Rook proposes before you say yes. If a store, airline, restaurant or app makes a mistake, or a price changes at checkout, that’s between you and them.
- If you turn on automatic management of something (like ad campaigns), Rook may make changes inside the limits you set, and you’re responsible for those limits.
Plans, billing and cancelling
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 |
| Pro | $15 | $150 |
| Ultra | $49 | $490 |
- Prices are in US dollars. What each plan includes is on our pricing and plan pages. All plans have fair-use limits.
- Paid plans renew automatically every month or year until you cancel. Checkout and billing run through HandyPay, processed by Stripe.
- Cancel any time from your plan page. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then you move to Free. Nothing you set up is deleted; things Free doesn’t include, like always-on watches, pause.
- We don’t refund partial periods, unless the law requires it.
- If a payment fails, we’ll tell you, and your plan may move to Free until it’s fixed.
- If we change a price, we’ll tell you before it applies to you. If you subscribed at an earlier price, your renewals stay at that price.
- Launch offer: some early users get Pro free for a limited time. It needs no card, there’s nothing to cancel, and it moves to Free automatically when it ends. We text you the day before.
Texting terms
- Rook talks to you over iMessage. You start the conversation by texting Rook, and you agree to get texts back, including texts Rook sends first about things you set up or that need you.
- How often: it varies with how you use Rook. Rook texts first at most 4 times a day by default and stays quiet from 10pm to 8am your time, except urgent alerts. You can change this by texting Rook.
- STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT) pauses every text from Rook. You’ll get one confirmation. START turns texts back on.
- HELP: text Rook “help” or any question and it answers. See Contact for more.
- Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Carriers aren’t responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.
Fair use and abuse
Use Rook for yourself and the people you work and live with, the way a person would. Don’t:
- break the law, or use Rook for fraud, scams, harassment, stalking or hate;
- send spam or unwanted messages to others, or make purchases with a card you’re not allowed to use;
- try to get around limits, plans or safety checks, overload Rook, or automate it at scale;
- break into or misuse other people’s accounts, or Rook’s;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer Rook, or use it to build a competing service;
- use Rook for anything that needs a licensed professional, or in situations where a mistake could cause serious harm.
Plans have fair-use limits so Rook stays fast for everyone. If your use is far above normal, we may slow it down or ask you to move to a higher plan.
Your content
What you send Rook is yours. You give us permission to use it only to run Rook for you, as our Privacy Policy describes. What Rook writes for you is yours to use. Make sure you have the right to share anything you send, including other people’s information.
Other services
Rook works with other companies’ services: the apps you connect (like Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Slack and Stripe), stores, restaurants, hotels, airlines and other businesses you ask Rook to book with, iMessage, our AI provider, AgentCard for payments, Shop and Shop Pay for some purchases, Stripe Financial Connections if you connect a bank, and HandyPay and Stripe for billing. Your use of them is also under their own terms. We’re not responsible for their services, outages, content or decisions, but we pick them carefully and only share what each job needs.
Ending things
You can stop any time: text STOP, cancel your plan, and delete your data from your account page or by texting “delete my data”.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, abuse Rook or put others at risk, or if we have to by law. When we can, we’ll tell you first. If we stop offering Rook altogether, we’ll give you notice first.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Rook is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it’ll be accurate, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.
- We aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, or for what third-party services, stores or AI outputs do.
- Our total liability for any claim about Rook is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so they apply to you only as far as your law allows. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived.
If you misuse Rook or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from that claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica. Disputes go to the courts of Jamaica, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them in your local courts. Before going to court, tell us about the problem and give us 30 days to try to fix it.
Changes
We may update these terms as Rook changes. We’ll change the date at the top, and text you before a significant change takes effect. If you keep using Rook after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Rook and cancel.
